Gaijin Gunpla

The HGFC G Gundam was my first experience with an HG kit and I loved it.  I was able to try out new techniques and the use of after-market parts and it was definitely less nerve wracking to do so on an HG rather than an MG.  Despite the enjoyment I had with the G Gundam I wasn’t really intrigued by the Nobell, mostly due to the feminine look.  Don’t get me wrong. I like the feminine look. On human females.  I keep my girls and my gundams separate.  I was actually going to pass on the kit but ended up with one in my possession after ASM and I purchased one for Buster and then found out he already had it.

The first thing I want to mention about this kit is that there are no poly-caps.  An HG with no poly-caps?!  but…?

Here’s a shot of the frame runner. All these parts will go together allowing the Nobell plenty of articulation without the need for poly-caps. I am intrigued.

This is the plastic piece that fits into the shoulder. Normally, this would be a poly-cap. Not on the Nobell, though.

Another interesting aspect of the Nobell is that there are quite a few small parts. In the past Bandai would use stickers to change the color of some parts of the kit, but here there is actually separate parts on a different runner.

Quite unlike any gundam head I have assembled up to this point.

Looks kinda 80’s.

Here are the arms. You can see how simple the design is. But it works so well.

And the shoulders. Pretty standard fare. Except for the lack of poly-cap!

Bandai has been releasing their HGs with extra optional hands (Why don’t they do this with MG’s?!) and the Nobell, as you can see, comes with some unique hands.

The top half is finished. So far, so good, so gunpla.

It’s the later part of the build that gets crazy. Such as…

Beam Ribbons…?

    Its just like a Cheerleader!
This is definitely different that your standard gunpla, but a good way to rack up some experience.
This should get interesting, though coming up with paint schemes on this would be kinda hard. Its like dressing up a girl! it has to match and be fashionable!

I’ve seen a dominatrix version done in blacks and grays… with fishnet stockings… I think I saw them posted on the guNjap blog. She was whipping a Beargguy that was turned into a pig.

Then of course there is the Sailor Moon color scheme…

Worth buying for the peace finger hand alone IMO. 😉

Nice to see small parts molded in the proper color, using foil stickers for this is just lame. Building a HG Ahead, and cant help but think they could have just molded a few more parts in yellow without much cost. But, I paint anyway so its not that big of a deal.
The no PC frame looks interesting.
