By now I’m sure everyone’s seen plenty of the Master Grade Wing kits that came out this year (and most interested parties reading this probably have already looked into this kit as well). Well, my Shenlong is going to be its own unique entity so it gets its place here on Gaijin-Gunpla. I don’t need to go into depth on the build but I’ve still got some pictures to show off.
The torso is pretty straightforward and much like the MG Wing kit from a year ago. It doesn’t look like any other mobile suit I’ve built before, however.
The design of the head is also well done and seam lives are not visible apart from the big one that divides the two main pieces of the head.
Here’s the shoulders. They assemble around one blue piece that gets almost completely covered and the blue turns into a type of highlight. I like it.
And here’s the arms. I’ve included a shot to show the range of motion.
Upper half complete.
(except for the backpack, which is right here)
The feet are almost identical to those found on the MG Wing. The heel armor slides on from the rear with a piece coming from underneath. There are some tiny yellow pieces involved but I left those off as I didn’t want to lose them while test-building.
Here’s the leg frame and, again, it’s much like the Wing and Deathscythe. No complaints here as those kits worked well.
Here are the armor pieces.
It’s got quite a range of movement.
With the feet and legs complete you then attach them together using a connecting piece onto which the ankle armor is applied.
With the leg together you then attach the final ankle armor piece leaving this gap.
At first I thought I did something wrong as the gap really stood out. After rechecking and reassembling it, I can only conclude that it was intentionally designed this way.
The piece for the skirt armor is just like those on the Wing and Deathscythe.
Mixed feelings about this. With the Wing the skirt armor stayed on well enough but the Deathscythe was another story altogether.
Lower half complete.
(except for the side armor, which is right here.)
Shenlong so far:
I like it!
Next up will be the weapons and modifications.
Gundams from the wing series are really great. Probably since they were my first. Hope I can afford the kits I’ve been seeing in your site, Syd. They’re great! Hope I get your skills as well!
It looks like a pretty simple build. Are the skirt armors better on this one then Deathscythe?
one thing i hate about my EW wing gundam ver. ka is that he can’t hold his gun AT ALL. its just to big, did they fix that in the newer EW version?
That’s a good question. I didn’t see anything different between the kits other than the added stand attachments with the new one so maybe they didn’t address that issue.
Looks great so far… It’s a really nice kit What I like most about it is that the Dragon Fang and shield have an inner frame. Only thing I don’t like is that the standard red/white/blue color scheme; which I’m glad someone other then me is going to change.
