Gaijin Gunpla

I’ve done the wings and the legs but was unsure which part to do next so, after some contemplation and possibly some beer as well I just decided I would finish the build right then.

First I worked on the torso, which means I assembled the cockpit.

The piece at the back is meant for the wings and moves somewhat, I imagine for the transformation.

Attach the parts for the arms.

Then look at the manual followed by looking at it a second (or third) time to make sure you do this part correctly.

I opted to leave the green sticker off of the chest. I will probably use an aurora sticker in its place.

Shoulder guns.

Then put the last of the blue armor on but first insert the small red piece. I thought this step was strange because it looked to me that the red would not show once the kit is fully assembled.

Then the final part of the torso, the waist joint, is attached.

Now for the head. It reminded me a bit of the MG Shenlong with several different pieces attaching to the side of the head.

If I swapped the Wing and Shenlong heads would anyone notice?

Onto the arms!

Here’s some frame.

And then several different armor parts come together to make.

Then this little contraption is assembled and attached to the outside of the arm.

And a standard MG hand.

The shoulders are some of the more interesting shoulders I’ve assembled on a Master Grade kit. (This actually got me thinking; if you were to divide mobile suits up into sections like they are in gundam instruction manuals, which kit has the best shoulders? or backpack? or head? or torso? I’m talking looks rather than build design here.)

You can see we’ve got symmetrical pieces coming together around the frame.

To which we add the top and side parts to finish it off. For some reason I found the white piece aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.

And to finish this kit off I built the torso.

I don’t need to explain much here.

Here’s the rear.

And the front.

Last part of the actual assembly is the side skirt armor.

Now I’ve got my more or less completed MG Wing EW.

Just gotta put him together.

Due to those massive wings on the back it took some effort to get it to stay standing. I was experiencing flashbacks to the Delta Plus episode.

Fortunately, for me (and others who have purchased this kit) Bandai has included the stand parts which weren’t available when this kit was released as the Ver. Ka. back in 2004.

I’ll leave this guy to the side while I work on some other builds. I don’t yet have an idea what I want to do with it so rather than waste time contemplating that I’ll come back to it when I am refreshed and have some plans for it. I will, however, play around with the transformation.

For some reason, I read MG Wing EW, and thought MG Epyon EW, so I was confused when I saw blue, white & yellow. Had to go back to re-read it.

Looks beautiful… Seriously considering the MG EWes for my collection…

After seeing your pictures of the kit I’m contemplating getting this one for myself, despite having the Okawara MG kit. It certainly does have the best looking shoulders out of any kit I can think of.

So is he the only wing kit to get normal MG hands?? Yes good looking shoulders, I’d pick the EX-S Gundam as one of the best looking gundam heads.

Finished mine last weekend, it’s a beautifull kit indeed. A little disapointed that the hands are very difficult to make them hold the rifle. None the less, awesome kit !

    I want this kit now….

Those MG hands looks like the older ones…

This kit has little tabs hidden in the back of the lower leg that extend to stop the ankles from moving backwards. Its a nice simple feature that helps to keep the kit stable.

I was really looking forward to seeing how this model would turn out. however I have to say I am actully very disappointed. besides the wings, it is basically a MG Wing Zero EW with a different color scheme.

Actually, it’s the MG Wing Ver. Ka with a slightly different color scheme.

Has unique wings, rifle and shield. But apart from that its the same kit. But look at all the other ver ka designs, they arent too different from the Endless Waltz designs.

  10. ClayCannonII says:

Then that says something about the ver. Ka as well. Does it come with its huge red shield?

  11. GunplaFan says:

I wanna get this so bad.

I have the ver ka, its a fantastic looking kit. The shoulder guns are a little pesky with the headfins, but apart from that its fantastic!.
