I’d eaten my McDonald’s and cued up the next episodes of The Office, so it’s torso time.

Here is where I started.

I am putting in the pilot. Sure he’s clear but I never do anything with the pilots anyway so he can stay that way.

Here’s the assembled cockpit.

Open sesame.

Getting the cockpit into the torso requires a few more pieces (well, it actually requires me to build the torso!)

Some large pieces are used to enclose the cockpit.

From there I assembled both sides of the torso.

Another metal piston looking part is found here. yay!

And then a second!

Then these two sides attach to the center of the torso.

The lower section of the torso is comprised of these pieces.

The add the piston housings.

Line them up and snap into place.

But the torso is not finished. There’s still work to do before the armor goes on.

The back of the torso has these larger pieces.

Not only does the Skygrasper attach to the back here but it also opens.

And here’s what I ended up with at that stage.

Time for the head. The eyes caught my attention because it’s made of one piece and not a separate clear and black piece put together.

Here are the main head frame parts.

Before continuing I had to build the LED circuit.

And then I realized I didn’t have a battery. Oh noes! Fortunately for me I live in the land of convenience stores so I paused my video, put on my shoes, and walked the two minutes to the store where I purchased a battery and beer. Sorry no pictures of the beer.

Upon returning home I removed my shoes, pushed play on the video, opened the beer and the battery and continued on.

Leaving the head like that would look rather silly so I cut the armor parts from the sprue. The head has to look like an Aile Strike for sure.

Oh ya!

And now our hero looks like this.

Not bad.

Not bad at all.

I never thought clear armor could look so good O_O

I wonder how you tackle the nub marks on the clear armor. I always screwed up with silver/titanium plated parts and clear armor parts (clumsy hands always over cut or stray off the intended areas).

    Looks great!

  6. I actually like that head with minimal armor…
You’ve poisoned me with the Zoids bug and almost the Macross one too, but I WILL resist the clear armor bug! XD
I wonder if there’s a way to paint clear armors so it sort of looks like an energy shield. Energy weapons are for noobs, pros go with energy armor too! Though I believe the colored clear parts wouldn’t help here.
