Gaijin Gunpla

I’ve been battling the weather to get some kits painted, mostly the MG Banshee, and when the weather forecast predicted rain again for the weekend I was wondering what I could do if I couldn’t paint. Two days before the weekend this guy arrived – the 1/144 HGUC MSA-003 Nemo (Unicorn Ver.) This should keep me busy for at least some of that weekend.

The Nemo is a standard HG so you get what you would expect in that small box, but I’ve noticed recently that the HGs are coming with more and more stickers.

Or is it just me? Has anyone else noticed this?

Because it’s an HG and follows the same designs as most others, I won’t need to write a lot of text, but I did take plenty of pictures.

Chest is two pieces with three poly-caps inside.

Thank you, Bandai, for making these separate pieces and making the painting process a breeze (if I ever get painting again, that is.)

There’s something to be said for the basic grunt suit look.

Everything is x2 here, as you would expect.

You can see that the manual indicates I put on five stickers for each shoulder vent. I have another idea.

(elbow joint)

More stickers!

The hand runner is the same as the Delta Gundam with the fist hands composed of three parts.

That is a grunt suit.

Here’s the ankle joint. You can see it gives you a bit of play.

The hip joints.

Here’s a shot showing the range of motion for the lower leg.

Then armor.

Lower leg frame.

And the part for the back of the lower leg.

More stickers! Four for each one.

The manual has you assemble the lower leg first then attach the knee/upper leg section, however the small connection coupled with its range of articulation means it is difficult to line up. I found assembling it this way first…

was much easier than how the manual has you do it.

Then the ankle armor.

With the boxy armor design on the Nemo articulation is a little inhibited.

A little mod I usually do.

Then two beam saber handles.

Those insert into the rear of the skirt.

Grunt suit green. Is that the same as a Star Trek Red Shirt.

The rifle is different than normal rifles in that it looks to be a bullpup, meaning the action is located behind the trigger group and alongside the shooter’s face, similar to weapons like the Famas

or the L85A2

While it looks cool it also is difficult for the Nemo to hold straight because the magazine is at the rear.

Roll out, Nemo. You’ll be fine. Don’t worry.

The stickers for HGUC GMs has indeed increased since HGUC GM III, though I appreciate Bandai for giving us an option to get all the colors correct via stickers rather than leaving them on inaccurate colors.

On a side note, the hands has been there since HGUC GM Type-C. They are included in every HGUC GM release after that (including Jesta).

    Hey I found Nemo sweet

You put the blue vents on the head backwards lol. This looks cool though. I’m liking the Unicorn color scheme, although I think a desert version would look better.

Haha! You’re right! I didn’t even notice. I was too busy trying to get it built and take pictures that I didn’t pay enough attention.

the articulation looked decent on this but im not so sure now

That green color isn’t exactly used only on grunt suits. The Re-Gz and Dijeh both used it as well as Guncannon.

At least you can steal a GM II/III’s beam rifle if you’d like it armed like it is in Z Gundam (kinda strange it’d have the old GM rifle, especially considering some of the old hardware the Sleeves and such send their way).

As for coloring the shoulders and such, it’d look a whole lot easier if you did that before the parts were assembled – same goes for applying the stickers.

I didnt like the way they conected the knee joint with that rectangular small polycap, however to that polycaps credit it worked on the HG zaku f2. Im hoping to see the nemo in the green colors as it looked in zeta gundam.
