Gaijin Gunpla

The year-end is always a tough period in which to find Gunpla time what with all the festivities Japan has crammed into every available nook and cranny of time. My lot is made more difficult because currently I only am able to build when a certain someone is like this:

Gotta keep the lights low, though.

When I found myself with a sudden lull I grabbed a kit I had been keeping at hand.

Yup, the Blue Frame version of that sweet kit, the 1/144 RG Gundam Astray Red Frame. As expected this is pretty much just a colour variant but the stickers it comes with are new.

Still love what Bandai has accomplished with this RG frame.

There is no katana in this kit but instead you get this:

That is a giant bazooka.

The build went by really quickly which it should as I have done it before and I also was able to confirm that the torso/waist connection problems I had with the Red Astray was due to a mistake on my part. The connection on the blue frame is quite secure though the legs still can pop off easily. But it does look badass once you’ve got all the markings on.

Some of them are tricky to place correctly, though.

Once you’ve got everything assembled you’ll have this nice pile of goodies.

I use the B-frame RG hands to hold the beam sabre handles.

Shield and rifle are pretty much identical to that of the red.

But dat bazooka!

Loved this kit more than the Red Frame I think and it’s got me fired up for the RG Wing Gundam EW which should be in my hands in a couple of days!

The build looks great! Now i’m even more hyped up for building my own Blue Frame. I’m sure that bazooka would look awesome on my shelf with this bad boy holding it!

Since my first gunpla is HG Astray Blue frame, i really hope it come in RG, when knowing it’s coming, i can’t get more excited, then it came in p-bandai, all the excitement fell of. It becomes three times prices the regular RG in my country. Have to hold it down, Boy gotta eat.

Hmm, I never knew this kit come with a few red parts around face, top of the chest, and lower torso area… I thought it’d look more consistent with those parts being blue as well.

I thought the same and was looking through the runners for the blue parts for the face. Then I saw the marking guide on the back and saw that those parts were meant to be red.

Hopefully this means that RG Blue Frame 2nd has a chance of happening.

hiya. i’d like to point out that the waist connection on your Red Frame was not a mistake on your parts, but a rather common issue with the kit.
the reason why it’s secure on the Blue Frame is because the part B4 was changed later on.
put the ones from Red and Blue side-by-side and you’ll see what i mean
